Lightning Bolt Victim Out of Hospital as 20,000 Strikes Hit Illawarra
A severe storm brought chaos to the Illawarra region, with an estimated 20,000 lightning strikes recorded. One unfortunate victim of a lightning bolt has been discharged from the hospital, while the community is left dealing with the aftermath of the storm.
Within a 40-kilometer radius of Nowra, a total of 16,204 lightning strikes were recorded. Astonishingly, 1828 of those strikes hit the ground directly, posing a significant risk to people and property in the area. The storm’s impact reached as far north as Kiama, affecting a wide stretch of the Illawarra region.
